Wikimedia Commons has a database of over 27,000,000 media files available for personal or commercial use freely. Public domain images and media files that you can also contribute to.

Icons & Icon packs – Iconspedia is a huge repository of free icons and clipart. When browsing be sure to note the license restrictions (if there are any,) as there are a few cases requiring you to notify the artists about using the icons and sometimes give credit to them. If there are restrictions you’ll find them clearly under the download button/section.
